Nuts
In this section of Seattle Organic Restaurants, I’m going to talk about nuts and their health benefits. Nuts are high in fat, and have many health benefits if consumed in small quantities. Nuts are powerful anti-inflammatory full of omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants and can prevent many health problems such as cancer or heart disease, so let’s go nuts!
Walnuts: Walnut is a poweful anti-inflammatory and a great source of antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids and can protect you against heart problems. Walnut has been known to fight against cancer and heart problems. Consuming walnuts can also help to lower the level of cholesterol and risk of heart disease.
Almonds: Almond is a great source of antioxidants, nutrients, minerals such as manganese, calcium, selenium, copper, and potassium and vitamin E. Almond is high source of fiber that can cleanse colon and prevent colon cancer. Almonds have been known to reduce cholesterol and lower the risk of heart problems.
Cashew Nuts: The fat in cashew nuts is lower than the other nuts. Cashew nuts are full of nutrients, vitamins such as B6, K and minerals such as iron, biotin, copper and magnesium. Monounsaturated fatty acids in cashew nuts can reduce the risk of heart problems. The magnesium in cashew nuts can help with calcium absorption and improve healthy bones. Cashew nuts can also energize the body and fight with free radicals.
Pecans: Pecans are a high source of antioxidants, nutrients, and vitamins and minerals such as vitamins A and E, copper, magnesium, potassium, zinc and manganese. Pecans can lower the level of cholesterol and prevent the blockage of arteries.
Brazilian Nuts: Brazilian nuts are high source of nutrients, protein, copper, magnesium, selenium, fiber, vitamin E and niacin. Selenium is an antioxidant that can fight against dangerous free radicals in the body. Studies from University of Illinois show that selenium in Brazilian nuts can prevent the risk of breast cancer.
Pistachios: A Handful of pistachios are full of nutrients, minerals, antioxidants and vitamins. Pistachios are rich in mono-unsaturated fatty acids such as oleic acid and can prevent the body against diseases, cancers and infections. Pistachios are full of vitamin E and can be very beneficial for skin health. Pistachios have protein and minerals such as potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, selenium, zinc and copper.
